The dining options at Centennial Yards are about to get a serious upgrade.
Developers behind the massive downtown Atlanta project announced Friday that three acclaimed restaurant brands — The Busy Bee Café, Varuni Napoli and Chops Lobster Bar — will open locations within the development, joining Wild Leap Brewery in what is quickly becoming one of the city’s most ambitious culinary corridors.
The additions come at a critical moment: with the 2026 FIFA World Cup bringing hundreds of thousands of international visitors to Atlanta this summer, Centennial Yards is racing to ensure its dining scene matches the scale of the event happening next door at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The New Tenants
Each of the three incoming restaurants brings a distinct identity and a loyal following across metro Atlanta.
The Busy Bee Café
Founded in 1947, The Busy Bee is one of Atlanta’s most storied restaurants and an enduring symbol of the city’s soul food tradition. The Vine City institution has served generations of Atlantans — including civil rights leaders who gathered there during the movement era — and its Centennial Yards outpost will bring classics like fried chicken, collard greens and cornbread to a new audience.
“The Busy Bee isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a piece of Atlanta’s identity,” a Centennial Yards spokesperson said. “Having them here says something about what this development stands for.”
Varuni Napoli
The beloved Neapolitan pizzeria, known for its wood-fired pies and imported Italian ingredients, has built a devoted following since opening its original Krog Street Market location. The Centennial Yards spot will give the brand its largest footprint yet and a chance to serve fans arriving from around the globe.
Chops Lobster Bar
A Buckhead institution operated by the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, Chops Lobster Bar is synonymous with upscale Atlanta dining. The steakhouse and seafood concept will bring a fine-dining option to a district that has so far leaned toward casual and fast-casual formats.
Building a Culinary District
The three new restaurants join Wild Leap Brewery, the LaGrange-based craft brewer that opened its Centennial Yards taproom earlier this year. Together, the tenants represent a deliberate strategy to offer a range of dining experiences — from soul food to Neapolitan pizza to white-tablecloth seafood — within walking distance of the stadium.
Centennial Yards developers have said the restaurant mix is designed to reflect Atlanta’s culinary diversity:
- Heritage brands rooted in the city’s history (The Busy Bee)
- Chef-driven concepts with loyal local followings (Varuni Napoli)
- Upscale experiences for visitors seeking a premium night out (Chops Lobster Bar)
- Craft beverage options anchored by Georgia-based producers (Wild Leap Brewery)
The World Cup Factor
The timing of the announcements is no coincidence. Atlanta’s eight World Cup matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium are expected to draw massive crowds to the surrounding blocks, and Centennial Yards sits directly in the path of foot traffic between Centennial Olympic Park’s FIFA Fan Festival and the stadium.
Restaurant and hospitality operators across downtown have been preparing for months, expanding seating capacity, hiring additional staff and adjusting menus to accommodate international palates. The Centennial Yards additions ensure the development won’t be caught flat-footed when the tournament kicks off.
What’s Next
Centennial Yards officials said additional restaurant and retail announcements are expected in the coming weeks as the development continues to fill out its ground-floor spaces. Construction on residential towers and additional hotel inventory within the 50-acre site is also ongoing.
For Atlantans who have watched the Gulch sit dormant for decades, the pace of change is striking — and the kitchen is finally open.
