Decatur WatchFest '26 turns downtown into an open-air World Cup party through July 19

If you can’t score a ticket to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Decatur has the next best thing.

The city’s downtown square has been transformed into an open-air World Cup viewing destination called WatchFest ‘26, featuring large-format screens broadcasting every televised match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup through July 19.

The event, organized by the Decatur Downtown Development Authority in partnership with local restaurants and sponsors, launched on June 11 and has quickly become one of the most popular community-level watch-party destinations in metro Atlanta.

Two days from now, a massive LED dome in the heart of downtown Atlanta will flicker to life for the first time — and the people inside will feel like they are standing on a soccer pitch, sitting courtside, or floating through space.

Cosm, the immersive entertainment company that has staked its future on wrapping audiences inside content rather than putting it in front of them, opens its Atlanta location on June 10 at Centennial Yards. The venue is the company’s most ambitious build yet, and it arrives at a moment when the surrounding neighborhood is undergoing a transformation that dwarfs the dome itself.

One of Atlanta’s signature summer traditions is back.

The Atlanta Greek Picnic returns to Atlantic Station from June 4 through 7, bringing four days of step shows, day parties, networking events, community service, and celebrations of Black Greek-letter organizations and HBCU culture to the Midtown shopping and entertainment district.

Now in its second decade, the event has grown from a modest reunion weekend into one of the largest annual gatherings of Black fraternity and sorority members in the Southeast, drawing thousands of alumni, students, and community members to Atlanta each year.
