A 26-year-old man was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds after a shooting in southwest Atlanta early Saturday morning, the Atlanta Police Department confirmed.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2100 block of Campbellton Road SW at approximately 2:15 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where his condition was described as stable.
No suspects identified
As of Saturday morning, no suspects have been identified and no motive has been established. APD’s homicide and assault unit is leading the investigation.
The area around the 2100 block of Campbellton Road is a commercial corridor in the Campbellton Road community of southwest Atlanta. Police canvassed the area for witnesses and evidence overnight but have not released further details about the circumstances of the shooting.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact APD or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-8477. Tipsters do not have to provide their name and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
Separate DeKalb County shooting
In a separate incident, the DeKalb County Police Department is investigating a shooting at an apartment complex on Wood Terrace Circle that left a woman hospitalized in serious condition.
Officers responded to the apartment complex and found the woman with gunshot injuries. She was transported to an area hospital, where she was listed in serious but stable condition as of Saturday morning.
One person has been detained in connection with the DeKalb County shooting, according to police. Investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances or the relationship, if any, between the detained individual and the victim.
The DeKalb County Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Weekend gun violence
The two overnight shootings add to a pattern of gun violence that metro Atlanta law enforcement agencies have been working to address. While the incidents do not appear to be related, they underscore the challenges facing both the City of Atlanta and DeKalb County as they work to reduce violent crime.
APD has reported overall declines in violent crime during 2026 compared with the same period last year, but gun-related incidents remain a persistent concern — particularly on weekends and during late-night hours.
Both investigations are ongoing.
