From readers of our website
- IP address — used for analytics and security. We retain IP addresses for 30 days, then aggregate.

We do not sell reader data to third parties. We do not share reader data with advertisers.
From newsletter subscribers
- Email address — required.
- Name — optional.
- ZIP code — optional, used to send locally relevant newsletters.
From members and donors
- Email address

- Payment information — processed by Stripe; we never see your credit card number.
From job applicants
If you apply for a position, we collect the information you provide in your application.

We use the following cookies and trackers on our website:

Data retention
- Newsletter subscription data — retained until you unsubscribe.
- Member and donor data — retained for 7 years for tax reporting purposes.
- Analytics data — IP addresses retained 30 days, aggregate data retained indefinitely.
- Application data — retained 2 years for consideration of future positions.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll post a notice at the top of this page for at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
