Major League Baseball released the 2027 regular-season schedule on Thursday, and the Atlanta Braves drew an opening stretch that could set the tone for the entire year: back-to-back road series against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers before finally returning to Truist Park on April 2 for the home opener against the Houston Astros.
If the season begins on time, the Braves will face the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on Thursday, March 25 — a date that would mark the earliest Opening Day in MLB history. The league scheduled Friday off before resuming the series Saturday, then heads north to Milwaukee before Atlanta fans get their first regular-season look at the new-look Braves at home.
The schedule release arrived amid ongoing uncertainty about whether the season will start on time, with MLB and the MLB Players Association still working through a new collective-bargaining agreement that addresses minimum salary and free agency rules.
A balanced slate once again
For the second cycle, Atlanta will face every team in Major League Baseball under the balanced schedule format introduced before the 2023 season. The Braves will play home-and-home series against every National League opponent and one three-game series against each American League club, with the exception of the Boston Red Sox, who the Braves will face twice.
Boston visits Truist Park from May 18-20, and Atlanta travels to Fenway Park from July 16-18 for the Braves’ first series after the All-Star break. The 2027 MLB All-Star Game is scheduled for July 13 at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
September homestand sets up the playoff push
Atlanta will spend the bulk of September at home, playing 12 of its final 18 regular-season games at Truist Park. The Braves close the season with a six-game homestand against the Washington Nationals (Sept. 21-23) and the Miami Marlins (Sept. 24-26) — a finish that gives the club a controlled environment heading into whatever postseason picture develops.
The release includes several holiday-weekend series at Truist Park: the Pittsburgh Pirates over Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30), the New York Yankees over Father’s Day weekend (June 18-20) and the Los Angeles Angels during Fourth of July weekend.
The full slate — and the questions about whether the CBA disagreement will delay any of it — will be in sharper focus as the spring of 2027 gets closer.
