Atlanta Hawks rookie forward Zuby Ejiofor posted a double-double in his Summer League debut on Saturday, scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in Atlanta’s 82-77 comeback win over the San Antonio Spurs at the Salt Lake City Summer League.
The 23rd overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft out of St. John’s, Ejiofor was dominant on the glass and showed the versatile scoring ability that made him a first-round selection. He added three assists and one block.
“Zuby is going to be a problem,” Hawks Summer League head coach Brittney Ezike said after the game. “He does everything you need a modern big to do.”
Atlanta trailed by as many as 20 points in the first half before mounting a comeback behind Ejiofor and rookie guard Kingston Flemings, the eighth overall pick out of Houston, who finished with 14 points and six assists.
“Honestly, it was just grit,” Ejiofor said in a postgame interview. “We were down 20 at one point, and we just kept fighting. We told ourselves we weren’t out of the game until the clock said zero.”
The Hawks continue Summer League play next week at the Las Vegas Summer League, where the team’s full rookie contingent will be in action, including second-round pick Henri Veesaar.
Atlanta opens the regular season October 21 at home against the Detroit Pistons.
