The Atlanta Hawks re-signed center Jock Landale on Friday to a one-year, $14 million contract, the team announced.
Landale, 29, split last season between the Hawks and the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 11.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 38 games with Memphis. After being dealt to Atlanta at the trade deadline, he averaged 9.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 23 games but fell out of the rotation for the playoffs.
“Jock brings physicality, screening, and a veteran voice to our frontcourt,” Hawks general manager Onsi Saleh said in a statement. “We’re glad to have him back.”
The deal keeps Landale as the team’s primary backup center behind Onyeka Okongwu, who is signed through 2028. With the additions of rookie Zuby Ejiofor and the development of Mouhamed Gueye, the Hawks have solid depth at the position.
Landale’s return is the latest in a series of offseason moves by Atlanta under Saleh. The Hawks have acquired Aaron Wiggins and Devin Carter in trades, re-signed CJ McCollum and Jock Landale, drafted Kingston Flemings and Zuby Ejiofor, and picked up Mouhamed Gueye’s team option.
The Hawks also locked up head coach Quin Snyder to a contract extension this offseason.
Atlanta opens Summer League play at the Salt Lake City Summer League next week, with Flemings, Ejiofor, and second-round pick Henri Veesaar expected to headline the roster.
