Downtown Atlanta’s entertainment landscape shifted dramatically Tuesday evening as Cosm Atlanta officially opened its doors inside the sprawling Centennial Yards development, delivering a 70,000-square-foot immersive venue unlike anything the city has seen before.

The facility’s centerpiece — a massive dome lined with more than 12,000 LED panels — is engineered to surround guests in what the company calls a “shared reality” experience. Rather than strapping on a headset, visitors sit beneath the curved screen and watch live sports, concerts and original programming that fills their entire field of vision.

The dining options at Centennial Yards are about to get a serious upgrade.

Developers behind the massive downtown Atlanta project announced Friday that three acclaimed restaurant brands — The Busy Bee Café, Varuni Napoli and Chops Lobster Bar — will open locations within the development, joining Wild Leap Brewery in what is quickly becoming one of the city’s most ambitious culinary corridors.

The additions come at a critical moment: with the 2026 FIFA World Cup bringing hundreds of thousands of international visitors to Atlanta this summer, Centennial Yards is racing to ensure its dining scene matches the scale of the event happening next door at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The first residential tower at Centennial Yards has opened for tenants, more than a decade after the project’s origin as a parking-lot deal between the city and the Atlanta Falcons and years after the development nearly collapsed under its own weight.

The opening of The Mitchell — a single 19-story tower designed by Atlanta firm Goode Van Slyke Architects — marks the most visible sign yet that the long-stalled $5 billion, 50-acre redevelopment of The Gulch is finally moving.
