President Donald Trump landed at Dobbins Air Reserve Base around 1 p.m. Wednesday aboard Air Force One and traveled a short distance to Wheeler High School in Marietta, where he spent the afternoon promoting Trump Accounts — a new federally backed investment program for children — and appearing with Rick Jackson, the Republican nominee for Georgia governor.

The White House announced the visit last week as part of a national rollout of Trump Accounts, an initiative that allows families to open tax-deferred investment accounts for children and contribute up to $5,000 annually. Children born during Trump’s second term are eligible for a $1,000 federal deposit under the program.

Gov. Brian Kemp on Monday formally endorsed Lt. Gov. Burt Jones for governor, ending months of speculation about whether the term-limited governor would throw his weight behind his second-in-command or attempt to stay neutral in what is now an open seat.

The endorsement, which a Kemp aide confirmed to WACN 21, came after several weeks of private meetings between the two at the Governor’s Mansion. It effectively clears the Republican primary field more than a year before the May 2026 primary and consolidates the establishment wing of the Georgia GOP behind Jones.
