ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves closed a four-game home set against the Washington Nationals the way division leaders prefer to finish weekends: with a clean Sunday win and a full series sweep.

According to the Associated Press recap carried on ESPN, Mike Yastrzemski homered and drove in two runs, Matt Olson also went deep, and Atlanta beat Washington 4–2 on Aug. 2 at Truist Park. The AP account described it as Atlanta’s first four-game sweep since winning four at the Nationals in September 2025, and the first time Washington had been swept in a four-game series all season — and the first time ever in Atlanta.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves opened a four-game set against the Washington Nationals with a one-run escape Thursday night, rallying from three runs down for a 5–4 win at Truist Park.

According to the Associated Press recap published on ESPN, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Mike Yastrzemski homered and Ozzie Albies’ two-run single in the sixth broke a 3–3 tie. Atlanta managed only four hits on the night. Eight of the Braves’ last nine games had been decided by one run entering the final out.

Mike Yastrzemski hit his first grand slam as a member of the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night at PNC Park, capping a six-run third inning that propelled the Braves to a 10-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Yastrzemski, acquired from the San Francisco Giants in the offseason, drove a 2-0 sinker from Pirates starter Mitch Keller over the left-center field wall for his 14th home run of the season. The slam came one pitch after a controversial check-swing call that went against Pittsburgh third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes.
