ATLANTA — If you needed a reason to drive past the perimeter after dark next week, the sky is providing one.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Perseid guide, published for Georgia readers this week, pegs the annual shower’s peak to the nights of Aug. 12–13. The American Meteor Society lists the broader Perseid window from mid-July through Aug. 24, but peak is when rates climb and casual observers have the best shot. A new moon on Aug. 12 is the bonus: darker skies without a bright lunar washout.
