Georgia Power wants to build five Hoover Dams' worth of new electricity capacity. The PSC is about to decide who pays for it.
The utility has asked state regulators to approve nearly 10,000 megawatts of new capacity, mostly to serve data centers. Commission staff are recommending a third of that, warning residential bills could rise by $20 a month if the full plan goes through.
