Mark your calendars, Atlanta. One of the world’s largest gaming festivals is headed back to the city, and this year’s lineup is shaping up to be the biggest yet.
What Is DreamHack?
DreamHack Atlanta takes over the Georgia World Congress Center from May 15 through May 17, bringing three days of professional esports competition, open gaming, cosplay, content creator meetups, and a sprawling exhibition floor packed with the latest in gaming hardware and culture.
Born in Sweden more than two decades ago, DreamHack has grown into a global circuit of gaming festivals that blend high-stakes tournament play with a community-driven convention atmosphere. The Atlanta stop has become one of the premier events on the North American gaming calendar, drawing tens of thousands of attendees from across the Southeast and beyond.
Headlining Esports Events
This year’s festival is anchored by two major professional tournaments that will put Atlanta at the center of the competitive gaming world:
Call of Duty League Major — Atlanta will host its first-ever Call of Duty League Major, bringing the top professional teams in the CDL circuit to the GWCC stage. The Major is one of the most prestigious events on the Call of Duty competitive calendar, and fans can expect intense bracket play, packed arenas, and some of the best console shooters in the world battling for a championship purse.
Intel Extreme Masters Counter-Strike tournament — The IEM Counter-Strike event features elite international teams competing in one of esports’ most-watched titles. Intel Extreme Masters is a globally recognized tournament series, and its presence at DreamHack Atlanta underscores the city’s growing reputation as an esports destination.
Beyond the Mainstage
DreamHack is about far more than watching the pros play. The festival floor typically features:
- BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) LAN areas, where attendees can set up their own rigs and game alongside thousands of other players for the entire weekend.
- Community tournaments in a variety of titles, open to players of all skill levels.
- Cosplay competitions showcasing elaborate costumes inspired by games, anime and pop culture.
- Exhibitor booths from major gaming brands, indie studios and hardware manufacturers.
- Content creator panels and meet-and-greets with popular streamers and YouTubers.
Getting There and Getting Tickets
The Georgia World Congress Center is located in downtown Atlanta and is accessible via MARTA’s Vine City or GWCC/CNN Center stations. Attendees driving in should plan for heavy traffic around the downtown connector, especially on opening day.
Tickets for DreamHack Atlanta are available through the event’s official website. Options typically range from single-day general admission passes to full-weekend premium packages that include early entry and reserved seating for mainstage tournaments. Prices and availability are subject to change as the event approaches, so organizers encourage fans to secure passes early.
A Growing Esports City
Atlanta has steadily built its profile as a hub for competitive gaming, anchored by the Atlanta FaZe franchise in the Call of Duty League and the city’s track record of hosting major esports events. DreamHack’s continued return to the GWCC signals confidence in the city’s ability to draw both players and spectators at scale.
Whether you are a hardcore competitor, a casual fan, or simply curious about the world of esports, DreamHack Atlanta promises a weekend worth experiencing.
