Summer at Six Flags Over Georgia just got a whole lot wetter.
The iconic Austell theme park has launched SPLASH! Water Parade, a brand-new seasonal water attraction and event series that kicked off in late May and is set to run throughout the summer months. The addition gives families one more reason to head to the park during Georgia’s notoriously sweltering season — and a built-in way to cool down between roller coaster rides.
What Is the SPLASH! Water Parade?
The centerpiece of the event is a lively parade route that winds through the park’s main thoroughfares, featuring decorated floats outfitted with water cannons, misting arches and splash fountains. Guests lining the route are encouraged to get soaked — and organizers say most of them do.
Beyond the parade itself, the seasonal event includes several interactive elements scattered across the park:
- Splash zones — designated areas with pop-up water stations where guests can cool off between attractions.
- Interactive water play areas — ground-level fountains and spray features designed for younger visitors.
- Themed entertainment — roving performers, dancers and DJs adding energy along the parade route.
- Extended park hours — select dates with later closing times to take advantage of cooler evening temperatures.
“We wanted to give our guests something they can’t get anywhere else — a full sensory experience that combines the thrill of our rides with the fun of a summer water celebration,” a Six Flags Over Georgia spokesperson said.
A Seasonal Draw for Metro Atlanta Families
The park, located roughly 15 miles west of downtown Atlanta off Interstate 20, has long been a summer staple for families across north Georgia. But SPLASH! Water Parade represents a deliberate effort by Six Flags to layer experiential, event-driven programming on top of its traditional rides-and-attractions model.
The strategy mirrors a broader industry trend. Theme parks nationwide have invested heavily in seasonal festivals and limited-time events over the past several years, recognizing that unique programming drives repeat visits from annual passholders and day-ticket buyers alike.
For Six Flags Over Georgia, the water parade also fills a gap in the calendar between spring break crowds and the park’s popular Fright Fest fall event.
Planning Your Visit
Six Flags Over Georgia recommends the following for guests looking to enjoy the SPLASH! Water Parade:
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet. The parade floats are built to soak bystanders, and there is no dry vantage point along the route.
- Bring a change of clothes or plan to visit the park’s Hurricane Harbor water park section afterward.
- Arrive early on weekends. Saturdays in June and July typically see the highest attendance, and parade viewing spots fill up quickly.
- Check the park’s app for daily parade times, splash zone locations and any schedule changes due to weather.
Ticket Information
SPLASH! Water Parade is included with general park admission and season pass access. No separate ticket is required for the parade or splash zone areas.
Single-day tickets, season passes and group packages are available through the Six Flags Over Georgia website. The park also offers parking reservations and dining packages for guests planning a full-day visit.
With temperatures across metro Atlanta already pushing into the upper 80s and low 90s, the timing could not be better. Six Flags is betting that SPLASH! Water Parade becomes the kind of signature summer event that keeps guests coming back — and keeps them cool while they’re at it.
